Parking on first day today

Holy shit. I bought the expensive permit and I didn't even attempt to go into any of the student parking structures. If they wernt blocked off by cones, they had like 20 cars in line to go in. How do they expect us to park. So I drove to another structure and it was the same way. I don't understand why it's so bad!! I had to go and park on the street and risk not getting a ticket for going over two hours. So does any one have any advice. I got there two hours early and I didn't want to even attempt at going into the structures cause I no it's madness in there!!
