Won't say they're sorry

Does anybody ever feel like their Nparents won't actually give sincere apologies? Instead they'll do or buy things to bring peace back. I feel like my Nmom won't actually say she is sorry, but instead break the silence or buy groceries to make peace. But she'll never actually sincerely say sorry for things she said. And if I demand one it is always "we are not equals". Does anybody else's parents do things like that?
