Reeve's latest, Railhead, is fantastic. Very strong Mortal Engines vibe!
Just today I finished "Railhead," and it was simply great. For the first third or so of the book, it was just making me wish we had more Mortal Engines or Fever Crumb, but after that all I wanted was MORE RAILHEAD! Looks like a sequel is already in the works, and a movie deal too!
The book takes place 1,000 years in the future in a galaxy connected by trains that warp through "K-gates" to other worlds. It follows Zen Starling, a petty thief from a poor neighborhood on the planet Cleave. Zen takes a deal working for the mysterious Raven to steal an ancient artifact from one of the Emperor's trains. I'll leave the rest for you to discover as you read, but I will tell you that it has lots of political intrigue, AI gods and goddesses, astonishingly human robots (who you come to love), and lots of action.
The whole thing reminded me of A Darkling Plain the most. Incredibly happy to have bought another brilliant book by Mr. Reeve.
