She thought I was food!

So today my housemate went to feed his ball python and she thought I was the food! He opened the cage and dangled the rat in as we would normally do and I was next to him watching him feed her. She was super active as she normally is when we feed her, but this time she suddenly lunged forward out of her cage towards me with her mouth open, luckily I dodged her quick enough and she tried for a second bite of the cherry and missed again. In the end we managed to get her attention with the rat and she ate it.

So my question is why did she strike at me? I didn't touch the rat so I wouldn't have the rodent scent. Could it be because she sensed I was the warmest thing near her and hence thought I was the food? When we fed her previously she tends to be a bad striker, and misses a few times, is it because she has bad eyesight so shes relying on her heat sensing pits? We also fed her a few days late, so could it have been because she was super hungry and just got over excited in feeding mode.

Anyway I'm not concerned at all as shes normally very gentle and lovely to handle, plus I have a ball python myself who's a bit more aggressive than her. Just thought it was quite interesting and was curious to see what you guys think?
