Ridding tank of velvet? [x-post r/bettafish]

Anyone have recommendations for ridding a 5 gal setup of velvet parasites? Recently, I added some live plants to my tank and my betta subsequently contracted velvet. I tried dosing with salt but it was too late, he died today. Guess that teaches me to not have a quarantine tank. I'd had that betta for almost two years; he was dealing with some fin rot lately because I was gone during the summer and had fish-sitters and less frequent water changes. But his health took a nosedive within a couple of days after addition of the plants.

Remaining inhabitants of the tank are two nerite snails, some tiny pest snails that also came in on the plants that I would like to get rid of, and various live plants: anubias, java fern, hygrophila, ludwigia, crypts.

What should I do to rid the tank of the velvet parasites? I'd like to salvage the plants if possible--some are looking a little rough due to the salt treatment and I'm going to get them in fresh water ASAP. I can deconstruct the tank and re-cycle it if that's the best approach? I would like to house another betta in it eventually, but I want to be as sure as I can be that the velvet parasites aren't lingering in the system.

Most recent water params: 0 ppm ammonia, 0 ppm nitrites, pH 8.2 (not sure if it's super basic due to the input tap water, need to check), temp ranges 75-80 deg. I have a small HOB, model not available at the moment.

Thanks!!
