Am I (20/M) being fair with my girlfriend(20/F)?
There's this girl I've been with for almost a year. She's my first girlfriend, and the first girl I've ever loved. We've been through great times together, and all I can say is I wish that it could've keep on going like that.
However, day after day, I find that I've been losing some attraction to her. Her low confidence along with her being a very fragile person, emotionally speaking, has been corroding all the love I've been feeling towards her. I've been very intolerant with her, arguing over the smallest things, and she hasn't been helping. She is basically going through a hard time of her life, and I'm her punchbag. I told her I'd stick by her side until this is over, and I put up with her agressive attitude for almost 7 months now. I know she is very lovely and she doesn't do it on purpose, but I honestly feel saturated sometimes. It feels like my only reason is for her to vent her frustrations while also being agressive sometimes.
I began to question last month (July) if I'd really be happy thinking of her as the mother of my children. I came to the conclusion that no, I wouldn't. She's not very bright. I'm not being arrogant, it's just that she doesn't have the minimal idea of most things. Nothing interests her. She has no hobby, she doesn't read anything. She doesn't care about her health. She doesn't like to try new things. All she does is study.
So, lately, I've been exchanging glances with a girl at my uni. Cheating on her is something I'd never do, but this whole situation is making things even worse. This girl is very pretty, even prettier than my girlfriend. As shallow as this sounds, it's not only about the looks. If that was the only thing, I'd not even care about this girl. However, I've been going through a rough situation, where I'm losing attraction over my girlfriend. This makes me want to, sometimes, get to know other people. What if I can be happier in another relationship? What's holding me back? And honestly, the answer to the last question is that I don't want to abandon my girlfriend. She needs my support for this moment. She doesn't have anyone else. At the same time, I feel this relationship has been more about her than about me since it all started. She never really cared for how I felt about my problems, of if I had any. It was always so much about her. We recently talked about it, and she admitted her mistake, and promised she'd change. To be honest, it hasn't.
So, people, should I wait and see if things sort out? Or should I talk to my girlfriend and tell that it isn't working the way I expected to?
TL;DR
More about her than me since the beggining. Now, very rough times with GF. Losing attraction. Feeling like her punchbag. Break up or try to sort things out?
