Questions about Kali

I've been studying Hinduism for almost a year now and I'm loving it. Having grown up in the West I was raised with mostly Christian beliefs, but still my family was never that religious. When adult life started to settle, a need for spirituality grew. My whole life I believed in a God, but I didn't know who they were and I wanted to get to know them. I found Hinduism and it stuck out to me in a way no other religion did. I've been studying it for a while now and I've decided I want to pursue it and learn about my relationship with God.

I find myself reading a lot about Shiva and his consort Kali, her especially. My question is about what I should do next. Does anyone know of any good books to help me further understand and learn how to live life/worship under her? There is also a Kali temple about three hours away from me, I've been considering going there but having never gone to church or anything, I'm nervous about the whole thing.
