Furious slash not working

it isn't recognizing my two-hand melee weapon? I just started a warrior for the first time, what the heck am i supposed to do?

EDIT: On a whim i tried putting my weapon in my offhand, and now it is working? is this what is supposed to happen? EDIT2: Ok now i can't use my other spells? what the hell is going on?
