Does the statute of limitations apply?
I have recently received an email from a web hosting company I stopped using in 2010 saying that I owe them for 5 months of past due bills which comes out to almost $1,000. I certainly don't think I owe them that as I cancelled in 2010 and moved on. I recently started hosting with them again as a new customer earlier this year because I always thought they were a good host.
The email states that they will take legal action if I do not pay. My state is Virginia and I was wondering how the SOL works here. I also cannot find a definitive guide on the SOL per state, some say VA is 3 years, some web sites say it is 6?
So what should I do/say about this? Seems odd to me that they waited 5.5 years to mention that I owe them anything as this is the first time I have heard about it. Thanks!
