Dual Meaning of "Poppy"

We know that Poppy was using the name Poppy, along with her given first name, before she relaunched as That Poppy. This would indicate that she just personally liked the name well before there was any intention of tying it in with the persona that has been created since. Nevertheless, I can't help but feel that she and Titanic wouldn't have used it unless it fit into the narrative that they are trying to convey.

There are two obvious meanings of "Poppy." One is pertaining to pop music, or perhaps pop culture. The other, of course, is the flower, from which is derived opiates, such as heroin.

The second meaning is implied by the title of a video on Titanic Sinclair's channel called Poppy Puts You to Sleep, which itself is a reference to the line from the Wizard of Oz when they reach the poppy field and fall asleep.

So which is the primary intention of the name Poppy? I think it's both. Not only that, I think they're saying that there really aren't two different meanings at all. Perhaps the message is that pop music, maybe even all of modern pop culture, is the opiate that is peddled to the masses to keep them buying.

Just a thought on a word.
