Final Verdict On Alleged Libertarian Cheating

After an appeal by members of the Libertarian Party I and the Triumvirate have come to a new decision concerning the punishment of the Libertarian Party. We have agreed with the appealing Libertarians that the situation was indeed somewhat cloudy, but upon looking at the precedent established by u/DidNotKnowThatLolz and continued by u/MoralLesson it is clear that what the Libertarian Party did was still against the rules. That being said we will be giving them leniency by reducing the amount of deducted votes to 1/4 of all votes cast rather than the original 1/3. Since the Libertarian Party leadership was aware of the advertisement, and even condoned it, the individuals who were previously put on probation will remain on probation.

In light of this controversy, the Triumvirate and I would like to shed some light on what exactly differentiates the act of telling a friend about the sim and illegally fishing for votes. When interacting online the lines between the two things can easily blur. So for example it is ok to tell someone you know in real life about ModelUSGov if you think they'd like it, but it is not ok to go down your friends list and tell them to check out ModelUSGov. That is both a dick move and a violation of the advertising rules. Another way you could get into hot water is if multiple members of your party start reaching out to people in the same online community (off or on Reddit). Even if the effort isn't organized by the leadership, the party can still get in trouble so don't do it. Also, if you're not sure if something violates the rules please ask a moderator for clarification and make sure to save that communication. If you get into hot water down the line it only helps you to have evidence that you got approval.

Thank you all for reading through this and if you would like further clarification please let me know.
