Referencing Internal Pay Structure in Wage Negotiations
I will be opening negotiations for a raise this week. Amongst my many responsibilities, I manage & process the payroll for our three entities (~100+ staff).
My question is: is it acceptable etiquette to reference the internal wage structure of the company, being that I see it as the payroll administrator?
I would like to make the point that a per-diem administrative employee, responsible for one minute task, is paid at an hourly rate just a dollar below mine, whereas I manage an extensive amount of responsibilities for the company. Is that an acceptable point to make when negotiating? Or is it considered bad etiquette?
I would appreciate any advice.
