Sony Z3 compact died and I'mback to using my Nexus 4. Buy what to next?

Solved-pre-ordered honor 8 for the size, IR, and gift card. As much as I enjoyed my z3c it's wasn't as smooth as my n4 (text, email, light doc editing, photo viewing, checking my finances). Also, even though it weighs more, I like the wider body of the N4 as both a screen and to hold. What's the closest phone out there to the N4 in look, feel, and operation? The 5? 5X? Does the N4 just operate smoother because that's what you get with stock? (Part of me is also considering Sammy s7 but I don't know if I'd be able to get past touchwiz.)
