UPDATE: Voice (and not passing) in online gaming

In my other topic, I talked about being misgendered by guild members over mic in a MMORPG. After hearing from you guys, I decided I'd try acting as close to how a cis guy with a high voice would as possible and see if that worked for me. I got an opening a little while later over voice chat when another guy was frustrated that his (higher than mine) voice was getting him mistaken for a teenager when he is much older. He grumbled about that a little and I added that I understood his problem because everyone always thought I was a woman on the phone or online, but I'm actually a 23 year old guy. Everyone was very startled. Apparently most people had thought I was female but a few had thought I was a 12 year old boy. Everyone that was in that day's voice chat has 100% updated their pronouns for me, and I'm pretty sure I saw a few other people switch because everyone else was so they figured they were just mistaken. It took a lot of anxiety to speak up, but it was actually a very easy conversation to have. I just told them it happens all the time and everybody immediately switched to "oh, sorry I got that wrong, that must be really annoying to have happen all the time" mode. This has been such a relief.

I wouldn't be too upset if people from this guild found out I am trans (I post to the guild subreddit on this same account, so clearly I'm not too bothered by the idea) but some explanations are easier than others to give.

Just thought I'd let you guys know in case you have a similar situation come up.
