Does each AP exam you pass = 3 college credit hours?

on my application it asks for how many credit hours I will have as a freshman. I've taken 7 AP classes: psychology, human geography, English literature, English language, statistics, environmental science, and us government

im applying to the university of Texas at Austin but nowhere on their website (that I've seen) does it tell me how many credit hours I receive for each exam I pass. do I put down 21 hours?
