Getting frustrated on stage 3-1

Is there a reason I can't complete the "Don't get hit by status ailments" challenge? I know for a fact I just completed it without getting poisoned and I still didn't complete it. I'm really annoyed at this one fucking stage not cooperating. Does somehow using Shikamaru to stun the boss count? Does buffing myself count? What's the deal??
