Dell laptop hinge broken after one year of use, Dell is saying the warranty doesn't cover it

I have a Dell Inspiron 5558 and got it exactly one year ago, and for the past few months I've been hearing cracking noises when I close the lid, but just yesterday I closed the lid and one the hinges starting coming apart. I can't the close the lid now, so I contacted Dell support, who said I have to contact out-of-warranty support, since this is "normal wear-and-tear". However, my Samsung laptop I've had for over five years hasn't a single problem with the hinges, despite closing and opening the lid multiple times a day, so I refuse to believe that. I did some research and this is apparently a manufacturing issue. I don't think I can afford to send my laptop off for almost two weeks and pay about $200 for it, especially since school is starting on the 6th. What can I do?

tl;dr: Broken hinge, Dell won't help without a price because of bullshit reason
