What do you want from your state's Vet Tech Association membership?
Hey all! I'm a board member on my state's vet tech association. Currently, we offer a $200 scholarship to students, hold an annual fall conference (FREE to full members), put out a quarterly newsletter, and have a "vet tech of the year" award annually.
However, we really don't get a lot of interest outside of our fall conference. The deadline for our Vet tech of the year award is in 2 days and I don't believe we've received a single nomination; same with our scholarship opportunity - the deadline is in a little over 2 weeks away and I've not received a single essay, despite contacting our state's vet tech programs, blasting it on facebook, our newsletter, etc.
We try to make it to every big conference within our state to have a booth every year to garner attention and promote the VTA. We just had a booth at the CVC this past weekend and did not get a single person to sign up for a membership, despite having lots of interest and activity at our booth (we held a raffle, gave out can coozies, etc).
So my question is... what do you, as a tech, expect to get out of your state's VTA, or what would make you more apt to participate, submit material, etc? How would you prefer to receive information or keep in touch with the board (mail, email, facebook, etc).
What sources would you expect to be offered and what would you utilize (or expect to be offered) on your state VTA's website?
And what would you consider to be a fair annual membership fee for these features?
Thanks!!!
