Was in a car accident, just looking for some general advice on dealing with everything.
Hello, first post for something like this, sorry in advance, and I hope this is the right place. I'm 19, so bare with me :). His Insurance: USAA Mine: Geico - only covers if I was found at fault , pays for his car. I have medical stuff for the driver of the car, I.e they will pay if I get hurt or if the other driver got hurt. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I commute from Pahrump Nevada. everyday to go to work In Las Vegas ( total commute is 128 miles a day). My car was a 1999 Toyota corolla with 170k miles on it. Tires replaced in march Wheel rotors replaced in march. Power steering pump replaced in march. Brakes rotors and a brake caliper replaced. last year - Radiator replaced last year. July 29th, I was in a accident. My car was totaled in the accident and he was set at fault for the accident. During this time, I had an ambulance come to the site of the accident and everything. I went to the ER the night of the accident, but I didn't ride in the ambulance, a friend took me. I got the police report and submitted it to both companies, to prove I am not at fault. the police report said he was at fault. this was a week ago ( 8/19) until then, I was contacting his insurance company every few days since the accident and he didn't contact them in that time. I am finally getting a rental car today. 8/29, because the car he was in was a rental car or something, so they had to get the agreement to see if USAA was responsible for the damage. Med stuff: Still waiting for bills, but I have a 800$ ambulance bill sitting on my desk, the rep from USAA said send it to geico cause they will pay for it, then I will get money back from them for the cost of it ( increasing the settlement price). I still have forms to sign about this from geico, I have been letting it sit. How should I go about this? They took my car last Friday, and today told me the value ( 8/29). 2161.38 - I don't know. I have action listings of the car with the same body (1996-2001) I mean, I could cheese it to almost 3k if I could show the going rate of the actions ( craigslist or auto trader). would this bump the price up more? or will they not even consider this auctions? Since the accident, I have been using my fathers car to get to work. He has another car, and is commuting with it. Is there any sort of loss compensation here? I.e If I lost work hours? I pulled my car out of the storage lot cause it was collecting fees, that was 500 plus a u haul trailer. Can I ask for the gas cost plus all that back from his insurance company? the yard said I could clam the tow bill under geico cause I wasn't given a chance to contact a company to tow the car, the police called them. I mean, I want to be truthful and I want to get everything I can out of this legaly. This has been quite a few weeks to even get this rolling, and I really got to get a car soon, cause I have classes, work, and Life. If you need any more infromation, I'd be happy to post this. Sorry for Grammar and other errors, I just wanted to get this posted up and see if you guys could offer anything. your friend, The Horn Blower.
