Is the Big Blue Bus free for UCLA students?

Hey I just took the BBB today and when I swiped my Bruin card, it said 'Fare satisfied', however I saw online that it is supposed to cost 50¢ with the Bruin Card. I still added 50¢ but it went towards the next person's bus fare. I didn't have a balance on my bruin card so it didn't withdraw the money from my account. Is the BBB free for UCLA students now?
