Yamaha hs 50m's

I have a pair of these bad boys and was wondering if the easiest way to connect them to my laptop would be through a two channel interface. Would getting something like this give me the same result? How balanced are 1/4 inch trs cables compared to XLR? I plan on also recording guitar and vocals if that makes a difference but i would like a reference point on the easiest way to connect my speakers and use them for making music.
