Potential Spoilers: Bravely Default Question

Hey guys, so I'm super late to the party and I just recently started playing Bravely Default and have been loving the heck out of it so far. However, last night I got to Chapter 5, and what happened at the beginning of the chapter off put me so much I don't know if I want to continue playing. So my question is, for those who beat the game, should I just push through this part? Will the story "fix" itself/resolve itself? Thanks!
