I've narrowed my choices down to four. Need help narrowing it to one.
I've had two LCD TVs in my life, both have been Vizio and both have been fine for me. So I'm partial to Vizio since I've been with them for something like 10 years and have never had to buy a new TV due to any issues, just desire to get bigger ones. A buddy introduced my to rtings and it's been a rabbit hole and I wish I never knew about it. That said, I've narrowed my options down to...
- Vizio 55" - M55-D0
- Vizio 55" - D55u-D1
- Vizio 55" - D55-D2
- Samsung 55" - UN55KU6300
So clearly I want a 55". I'm also budget conscious. I've never spent more than I think $600 on a TV and my current TV is 47" (Vizio E470i-A0). Outside of that, the D series reviews pretty well on rtings and despite the numbers the review for the 1080p version the review basically says it's the same as the 4k version without the 4k. But the M series and the Samsung both seem a touch better (minus the sound for the M series and motion interpolation for the Samsung).
I play videogames frequently, I watch a lot of cable/DVR TV and a ton of sports (so motion is important), and while I do watch movies they are not nearly as frequent as everything else. Although a large number of those movies are on DVD still.
I'm leaning D series because I'm cheap and I'm not fond of the M series tablet remote thing. But I'm interested in some none rtings opinions because they sell the D series as a pretty good TV (even the 1080p version despite their lower ratings for it). And if it's so close to the 4k version then why does the D series get such lower numbers? I'm also concerned about viewing angle here. My 3 year old E470i-A0 seems to do pretty well in that regard, despite the lower scores newer TVs can't possible be worse, right?
EDIT: Looks like the UN55KU6300 has a Best Buy exclusive model that is much cheaper. UN55KU6290 is missing bluetooth and smart remote, but is only $700 right now. Makes this more of a battle.
