Why do my icons get moved around?

Windows 10 Home. Every once in a while all my icons get pushed in line on the left in no particular order. Any ideas? A while back I used HitmanPro and Malwarebytes but the free trials have expired. I tried running it the other day and it said I needed to pay and I uninstalled it. Then I started getting some weird ads popping up. Think it could all be related?
