In the ancient fabled city of Irithyll, great treasures await those who would overcome adversity to claim them...

I am Lord Rommel of the Black Sun, and I am here to issue thee a challenge. Long hath the old saying been true, that fortune doth favor the bold. Thou shalt discover the meaning of these words... Or perish in the attempt.

In my travels, I have acquired a great many items. So many, in truth, that mine inventory hath overflowed and can hold no more. This is, for me, quite distressing, and yet I am loathe to simply peddle these hard-fought trinkets to the old maiden in the Shrine. Nay, t'would be a complete waste, and there are many warriors in search of treasures of their own.

If thou art one such warrior, then listen true: I have treasure for thee, but I am not so charitable as to part with them without obligation. Thou'rt a warrior, art thou not?

When thou doth meet with another warrior when worlds collide, and blades clash, 'tis a very clear matter: The strongest shall survive, and the lesser shall die. I, the Black Star, welcome all without fail, and am inclined to lend a hand to any who art in need-- But my favor lies with those strong enough to face adversity and come out stronger still.

If thou'rt willing to rise to a challenge, then I shall Summon thee, and thou shalt make thy way through the city to the altar at the end of the road, beneath the entryway to the Pontiff's cathedral. There, thou shalt find my Champion-- And thou shalt face him in mortal combat. An honourable duel to the death. If thou should defeat him, then thou shalt receive thy prize. And if it should be that death is what becomes of thee? Well. Thou'rt welcome to try again.

My Champion shall fight thee in an honorable duel-- Though shouldst thou resort to treachery, so too shall he remove his shackles. Resort to whatever means thou wilt, but maintain duel etiquette, or suffer for it.

My Champion salivates at the idea of cutting down some sorry Souls.

What shalt thou do to accept this challenge?

If thou art bold enough, then maketh thy statement here: That the challenge is accepted and the prize of thy desires. Slabs shall not be a viable prize, though infusions and weapon strengthening shall. Include in thine acceptance the name under which thou shalt be contacted, and receiveth the call that shall put thee into my world. If thou'rt called upon, then place thy sign upon the altar under the Pontiff, where the Ring of the Sun's Firstborn can be found.

The etiquette shall be as follows:

• Upon arrival, thou shalt kneel before the altar. Thy Lordship is doing thee a service, and asks nothing in return but thine appreciation. A show of respect is all I ask, and the Black Star shall not receive the uncouth.

• Thou shalt greet my Champion honorably. He hath risen to this challenge not for personal gain, but by my request. A disservice to him is a disservice to me. If he is struck without greeting, then thou shalt receive nothing if victory is achieved.

• Thou'rt welcome to strengthen thyself in any method thou seeth fit. Chant thy stories of old, unravel thy scrolls, imbue thyself or thy blade with whatever tricks thy will. My Champion shall do the same. Thy goal is to defeat him-- His is to defeat thee. Forget this not.

• Forget not that I stress this shall be an honorable duel. My Champion hath received instruction not to heal himself, as is the nature of a duel. If he doth maintain his instruction, then thou shalt follow his lead, and accept death graciously if it cometh to pass. Should it be thy desire not to follow his lead, then he shall be freed of his obligation. Heal at thine own discretion. Failure need not be permanent-- Persistence is a stepping stone along the road to victory. If death finds thee and thy wish is to try again, declare such.

After greeting my Champion, he shall rise to meet thee. Thou shalt make thy way to either staircase beside the altar and empower thyself. I shall sound a bell, and the fight shall commence.

• Should it come to pass that thou doth decide to forfeit the duel, then curl up and make thyself small to signal thy acceptance of defeat, and he shall not strike thee down. Fortune may favor the bold, but it is the wise who shall inherit tomorrow for outliving the bold. If it is thy desire to regain thy bearings and reapply thy tricks, then signal such with this. The fight shall recommence as the bell is rung once more.

Prove to me that thou'st read my Commandments by placing "Long live Lord Rommel" at the end of thy statement of accepting this challenge.

The end of the fight shall likewise be signaled by the ringing of the bell. Upon victory, approach the altar, and kneel before it. The Lord of the Black Sun shall descend from it to greet thee, and impart thy rightful prizes upon thee. Then thou mayest return home-- The Black Star himself seeks not to do battle, but to honor those most deserving.

Finally, once thy prizes are in hand and thou'rt safely home, forget not to exalt thy Lord through the use of the karma system. It is all he shall have to show for it. If thou wishest to assist thy Lord, he shall always receive Souls, Embers, and Seeds of the Giant Trees with gratitude, but shall not demand them as recompense.

TL;DR: Tell me what you want and give me your Gamertag, and I'll message you a password. You'll fight one of my friends, and if you win, you get what you asked for. If you lose, try again. Don't be a dick or you won't get prizes, it's a duel for free stuff. If you wanna donate some Souls, Embers, or Seeds to help out, I'd appreciate it, but I'm just trying to find a way to clear some inventory space that could be entertaining for all parties involved, and boost my karma a little bit. I'm big on theatrics, so yeah, I'm trying to maintain a level of atmosphere to it. There's a litmus test up there, so read the whole thing. The weird rules are to make sure you didn't just skip to this part and say "Rommel gib free stuf plz," and because I'm trying to maintain some "in-characterness" to it.
