Form Check - Deadlift
The video is of a set of deadlifts that resulted in a reoccurring injury. It causes lower back pain, the severity of which varies depending on what I'm doing. I'll feel no discomfort at all when walking around, but bending over to wash my hands or tie my shoes causes a sharp, stabbing pain. If I don't deadlift or squat for seven to ten days, my back heals up and feels great again. While I injure myself deadlifting only occasionally, it's very frustrating because it stifles my progress.
I'm 30 years old, 5'9" and 170 lbs. I pulled 265 lbs for five reps this set. I'm five weeks into this winter's bulk and quickly regaining the strength I lost during my cut. At the end of my last bulk, I pulled 275 lbs for five reps with no issues. I felt no pain at all.
Overall, I think my form is pretty good. I really don't see any rounding in my lower back. Nonetheless, I have noticed a couple of issues. First, my hips are rising at the beginning of the pull. Second, my back is pretty horizontal. I figure the combination of the two must be resulting in my lower back problem.
I'd appreciate any advice.
