Short blue hair - good idea?

First off my current hairstyle.

I always had medium to long hair and I never dyed it before, (I had some blonde highlights about 8-10 years back just to lighten the colour a little). I am/was also not very interested in my hair style and I only went to the salon once in about 2-3 years, only going to trim it a bit or to shorten it if it got too long/annoying.

Then pretty much exactly a year ago I decided to cut it short and cut off 40cm. I really liked it short, but some of my friends didn't approve very much.

Now, I'll be moving to another country in 10 days and I wanted to cut my hair short again before I do so, but my friends nearly begged me not to do it.

After talking a bit more and looking at a few styles, they suggested a pixie cut dyed blue. And at first I was all for the idea. But now, after a bit of googling and after the initial excitement died off a bit I'm not so sure anymore.

What I'd like to go for.

How good/bad of an idea is this? Any other suggestions you may have for me?
