High Performance Laptop for Programing/Coding/Editing at most $1000 if possible, USA

Total budget and country of purchase: I don’t really have a budget, but if at all possible, as close to $1000 or lower; US

Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications to your requirements for the money? Pick or include any that apply. All three if possible, but especially good battery life.

How important is weight to you? No specifications, but the lighter the better

Which OS do you require? Windows, Linux, Mac. Doesn’t matter as long as other specifications are met.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. If you have no requirements, put N/A. Yes, I am not sure on which. I am an Informatics student, and will be learning statistics, programing, coding, and others. I just started so I don’t the specifics programs, but one class just started using Visio. I personally like editing videos, photos, and music, so Photoshop/Adobe programs, Audacity, and any other programs I might find useful for my hobbies. I occasionally play Solitaire and Mahjong.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable business grade build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Reading these questions, I know I have a lot to learn. I believe reliable build quality is important. Touch screen isn’t a necessity per se, but if a laptop fits my other specifications and happens to have a touch screen, that would be awesome. A built in CD/DVD drive. At least two usb ports.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Like I said, I am in school for Informatics (hopefully one day to work in IT or something similar). I need a laptop perfect for programming, coding, and music/video/photo editing. I also need good battery life and speed. I hope this isn’t too confusing, as I realized I don’t know as much as I think I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And if you feel I am missing any important features, please let me know.
