[NYC] Lost my license, ordered replacement, what do be wary of? (identity)

Hey all, i lost my license at the beach today. Already ordered a replacement and printed out a temporary license. I have been trying to find out from the dmv all day whether or not the old one is cancelled and what could someone do with my old license they found? what should i be afraid of?
