Philadelphia temple painting

So I went to the Philadelphia temple open house with DW. A surprisingly pain free experience with her, even though she wouldn't stop giving me shit for the coffee stain on my shirt (lighthearted shit). Let me start off by saying I know that the church spends way too much on these buildings but I felt this was absolutely beautiful architecture and the detail in the building really hits the revolutionary time period well.

However, as we were walking through a painting caught my eye. It was a black woman kneeling down in a white dress. Slightly tattered, definitely depicting an antebellum style. DW and several black women in the group took note and marveled at how cool the painting was. On the way home DW and I had a conversation about how I felt the painting was so misleading because the woman depicted would never have been allowed in the temple because of her skin color. I just wanted to voiced my thought that that painting alone does more to whitewash the history of racism in the LDS church than leaders actively do anymore these days.
