Some advice for dealing with the skeptical component of the mind

I have been involved with the occult, magick theosophy philosophy kabalah ect. And have experienced unbelievable states of consciousness that I could only relate to the occult and that seemed to be the only doorway in and explanation for these experiences. I have recently detoured from the occult onto more science based philosophy (Daniel Dennett's consciousness explained for example) and I find that this sort of skeptical thinking demystifies the mystery of the occult, and offers better but more disappointing answers. Maybe the occult will die by the sword of skepticism, that opinion of mine is however very painful to me, and I have been searching for answers that none seem to satisfy. I realize if any of you tell me that I am at a low state of consciousness when being rational or doubting or whatever, but I feel that it is very difficult to find a cure to my skepticism apart from use of entheogens. Maybe someone who still dabbles with the occult who has moved on can offer some insight to my position, or anyone in general , Thanks :)
