How to tell if you're successfully ovulating?

I got a new gyno today. Had PCOS diagnosed since about 2007. Before destroying my life with the depo provera shot 5 months ago, my cycle was like clockwork at 32 days, bleeding for 6. I would feel my hormones flutuate, get horny around ovulation time, every month pretty much feel a bit of pain around that time I put down to ovulation, cervical mucus changes, and then pms, then bleeding. Clockwork. Aside from a bit of acne and unwanted hair, I've had no problems.

My new gyno shocked me when she said I probably don't ovulate successfully. I've never tried to get pregnant, so I don't have any evidence. I've heard that a lot of women with pcos don't have regular cycles and struggle to get pregnant because they don't ovulate. Can that be the same for someone with a regular cycle?
