Distortion correction ? : Note 4 in latest Gear VR

I'm thinking of buying the new GearVR as I heard the Note 4 fits it ( albeit a tight fit ) . I have an original Innovator edition that is getting pretty tired in a number of ways .

I know that it is not officially supported , so my question would be will the correct distortion correction for the new GearVR lenses be loaded when I plug in the Note 4 , and will it accept my Note 4 from a software perspective ?

Has anyone here done this and report that all is well in that department ?
