Shopping around for insurance pays off.
Well it's that time of the year again. Time to renew my aircraft insurance policy. The company I've used for the past two years (the entire length of my aircraft ownership) sent me a quote and instead of just taking whatever they offered, like I did last year, I decided to shop around. I requested quotes from two other agencies. One quoted me about $100/year more than my current insurance company and the other quoted me about $400 less. Now, I typically try to remain loyal to companies so instead of jumping for the cheaper quote I decided to give my insurance agency a chance to match. Not only did they match the quote, they dropped my deductible to $0. This was a major win and goes to show that it pays to shop around. I will be doing the same thing next year. And by then I will be instrument rated.
