Stretching really hard

I remember trying so hard to rationalize my irrational beliefs in the supernatural, the authenticity of the Bible and reasons I believed it to be inspired. Now, I continue to be amazed to what lengths believers are willing to go to try to cling to their beliefs if the face of hard logic, science and lack of demonstrable evidence. I have some Christian friends who are very intelligent and I can see them searching the same places I did as I de-converted. I see them attempt to use intellect to try to explain what is ultimately an irrational system of belief. One of them posted a link to this article. Thought I'd share to see if anyone else can relate.
