First build for newbie in Quads but not in RC
Hi all,
Introduction so maybe some introduction about myself and my experience. I started RC adventure with some 6CH Helis which was hard but I somehow managed, then i was flying different size helis, this was quite boring for me and expensive to repair so I abandoned helis and moved to gliders. Finally I am relaxed when flying and I love them. There is nothing special just 3 of them (different size and power). I wanted to try to build my own quad now in addition to planes (I would never come back to helis - sorry :P ). I am also planning in future some flying wings/deltas and maybe some speed monsters (planes).
Main question I have Spektrum DX6i with different receivers. Few (ok more than few) batteries and some equipment for building, flying, repairing etc.
The first question is if I can use this spektrum for quads with success? Or I should plan to buy something else? (that wont be a big problem as I live in 2 countries with much traveling so having one radio each place is nice idea, and some radio update is always nice and later on I will just keep one better radio). If I should to buy something else what it should be? Taranis is nice but expensive and I do not know if I will ever use 80% of its functions. I do not fly everyday, even not every weekend, it is just from time to time and I like to setup my rigs at home at evenings. I am kind of "Sunday Driver". Taranis will be future proof I guess, i wont need anything else ever probably. There are some other nice radios out there Flysky etc (I will skip considering Turnigry 9,9x,9xpro.... as it is overall similar to taranis at the end - in price). Can you suggest something?
Now what I expect from my quad, I would like to have it all in one, i know its impossible but still. Firstly I would build just normal quad without FPV but at some point I would like to try that as well, after I will be comfortable witl flying it. I am not really into aerial photography but again it would be nice to have opportunity to mount something. I like speed and dynamic so this will also count but probably for long time I will not fly any races or even close With this I would like to achive nice flying times but I know it is hard to get anything above 10 min with such expectations.
So my thinking was to build 250 class X quad with some little bit stronger engines with frame capable of having both FPV and camera (like gopro etc, doesnt necessarily at the same time). I did some research and I want to buy SP racing F3 EVO as my FC. I can connect GPS to it for testing and it is nicely price tagged. What do you think?
What I want to achive is a multicopter where I will taste a bit of everything and If i will like it I will build something more specialized or 250 will stay for racing and FPV and I will build another bigger quad for more flying times, stability and photography (maybe also FPV).
Summary:
- if i should keep spektrum dx6i or buy a new radio
- if 250 class is fine for the first quad
- is it good idea to try everything with one build? (some more dynamic flying, camera fly, trying with GPS to learn the basics, FPV at later stage)
- is Sp racing F3 EVO a good choice? (I want to fly cleanflight).
I do not need you to write me everything exactly what I have to buy, this I can figure out from other posts and ask you later, I just need some general hints for my questions where I should start and for what I should look for. I know I will learn a lot during building process and change my mind a little bit there. Like I do not need GPS but it is an easy addon which I would like to just try how it is
Thank you guys!
