I have no idea where to post this, but I need help with something job related.

I am 17 years old, and never had a job before. My friends that work at the same restaurant got me a job as a dishwasher that pays $9.50/hour. Me, being excited, tell my parents about it. My mom says that it's a great opportunity; however, my dad, who is a chef at the Bellagio Casino, told me to not show up because it would give me a bad reputation in my resume. He also said that it's a job for "ex-cons," and would do more harm than good for my resume. What I want to know is if this is true or not. I would think that it would help because it would give me some job experience, but what do I know, I'm just an oblivious 17-year-old. ( ¯_(ツ)_/¯)
