How do I stop the poor person mindset?
This might not be the exact sub for this question, but I couldn't think of a better group to ask.
I don't seem to care about money.
I grew up poor, but never really went without. My family never quite made it to middle class. I've been supporting myself since I was seventeen. My bills get paid, my debt is managed. I've even been able to get small personal loans just to raise my credit score.
The most I've made in a year is 20k net.
If I want something, I buy it. I have almost no savings, aside from my 401k. When I have it, I give money away as opposed to lend it. I'm never worried about running out of money because when I do, I always make it through. I own my house. I own my truck.
I understand that having a savings account is important. I understand the need for an emergency fund. I just don't care. Yet, sometimes, I wish I had more money.
Is there a way to change my mindset? Should I even bother?
