my friend just told me that she thinks me being gay is my choice...
just a little backstory- I've been best friends with this girl for almost 2 years, and I've always been really open with her about me liking guys.
so anyways, today we decided to go on a walk around our neighborhood, like we do every day after school.
we were talking about her boyfriend or something, and she showed me pictures of her and her boyfriend holding hands in public.
I said "aww that sweet. I wish I could do that some day." and she paused, and looked at me. she's like "well you can. all you have to do is not choose to be gay anymore."
I was SO set back my this. I stopped walking and I said "are you joking right now? do you honestly believe that I CHOOSE to be gay?"
and she said, "well yeah. I choose to be straight, and you choose to be gay." so, I said "I most definitely don't choose to be gay, you do not choose to be straight either. you don't just wake up and say 'wow, I want to be lesbian today, or okay, I want to be attracted to penis,'"
then she said "yeah I do. I choose to be straight everyday. I just don't want to be gay, so I'm not."
I told her how it was not a choice, and I started crying- I just can't understand how someone would think like that. she asked me why I was crying and I said nothing. she said "you can just stop being mad at me right now, because you're acting rediculous."
then she told me that she was mad at me for trying to make her look "bad".
I was so shocked, that I didn't say another word the entire walk home.
now that I'm home, I have honestly no idea what to do.
(sorry for the long rant. I'm so upset over this, now. we were/are best friends.)
