Help! New rear shock won't fit!
Trying to replace a Fox shock with a new RockShox. Eyelet to eyelet and stroke are exactly the same. And the new shock almost fits. But can't get the bolts that hold it in go through. Seems like it's just microns off!
Here are some pics and explanations below: http://imgur.com/a/UJq5M
Comparing the two shocks, it seems the Fox had more of a curve near the top. See first picture.
Picture 3 shows where the rub is causing it to misalign by just a bit. Seems like I need to maybe trim the frame? I have an angle grinder, but would hate to grind the bike's frame!
Please tell me I'm missing something here. Spent a few hours so far trying to make both bolts fit, but I can only get one in.
HELP!!!!!
EDIT: Took out the grinder to shave away and make this new shock fit. Here are some pics: http://imgur.com/a/IXTvF
Thanks to everyone for their input. Lesson of the day was that even if eyelet to eyelet and stroke measurement is the same between two shocks, it doesn't mean they're interchangeable!
