What are your favorite restaurants / bars / places to take visitors?
One of my favorite people in the world is coming to visit for Labor Day; it will be her only vacation this year and she's never been to LA before. I'd like to take her to some unique, awesome places, buuuut I'm pretty much a hermit who only goes to the same bars within a 1 mile radius of my house, so my knowledge of these sorts of places is fairly limited. I want to make sure she has the very best time possible, but she's on a tight budget so we can't exactly roll like ballers.
She's a super laid back, mostly vegetarian stoner who loves craft cocktails, Mexican food, and beautiful views.
On the list:
*Sugarfish (she's been hearing me rave about it for years, it'll be our main meal splurge)
*The Getty
*Downtown: The Last Bookstore, Grand Central Market
*Perch (I want to take her to a rooftop with views and this is the most recommended one, any other ideas that are maybe cheaper?)
*Paddleboarding in the marina (by her request, I'm definitely gonna fall off)
*Happy hour at Venice Whaler and people watching on the boardwalk
*Brunch at The Commissary
*Hike to Hollywood Sign (depending on how hot it is)
Things I'm specifically looking for:
*Amazing Bloody Marys
*Authentic (ish) Mexican (preferably on the westside)
*Live reggae
Any ideas for me? Thanks in advance!
