Any new Online Multiplayer Riichi for PC?

Can anyone suggest a good online Riichi client for PC other than Tenhou? I'm wondering if there are any new Riichi clients with a lot of extras, like rank/progression, tournaments, and a reasonable F2P model. I used to play NCSoft's Janryumon before they ruined it. And I enjoyed their fully 3d board. There are a couple great clients for Android/iOS, like the one Sega has. Now I'm looking for something similar to that, but designed for PC. Many thanks for any suggestions.

I think there's an obvious answer that's been missed. Are you aware that Sega MJ has a PC client?

No, I didn't know that. Thanks!

You're implying that JRM was ever "not ruined".

Sega MJ is not F2P, the clone network that shall not be named is not sustainable (and their cash games charge a 15% rake on a hanchan), the riichi community in NA/EU have steered far away from MahjongTime long ago.

Solution: get some friends IRL. It's the only more stimulating mahjong thing than Tenhou.

Sega MJ is not F2P

Sega actually is Free-to-play. However, naturally, game options are limited to tonpuu or custom lobby. But at least, free players still have access to Sega's weekly competitions and ranked play.

Then it's gimped. There's no game mode on Tenhou that tells me I can't play because I didn't feed Tsunoda, unless it's skill-related. That is the essence of free to play. Not "free to play some sub-option as a demo".

Are you sure about that? I haven't seen any direct limitations on the Free games. You are talking about this app, right?

Free mode is always free to play, but you can't rank up past the kyu ranks in Free mode. Once you get into the dan ranks you can only gain points in official modes or events which require chips or tickets. It's possible to get by without paying, it's just slow at first. The competition is also pretty weak in Free mode compared to Tenhou, but is very strong in the official matches.

Yeah I am. When I played it around 6-7 years ago you could play for free as much as you wanted.

And for me, your solution is impractical. I don't know even one person that plays Mahjong, let along 2-3. If no better PC client currently exists, I will just stick to mobile for now.

Why? I still play there as do many people I know

MahjongTime.com

Not many play on there. Especially not Riichi.

I do as do a handful of regulars. "I wont play there because no one plays there" is also self-defeating, don't you think?

Ever heard of biting the hand that feeds you? Why would you downvote someone who answered your question?

When you have to sit around for half an hour to find one game, I find myself looking elsewhere. Tho I may check it on occasion.

Why would you downvote someone who answered your question?

I didn't. But since you seem so confident in that assumption, I can now...

Tenhou's activity levels can be found on their page, all the time: http://tenhou.net/stat/access.html : from this, we can easily tell there are at least 1400+ people on the server, day and night / night and day, depending on where you live.

Most other clients lack the honesty to publish connection and activity numbers. You simply posted a URL as an advertisement with not even an inkling of an idea of why MahjongTime is even good to play on (with the top reason normally given being the xenophobic "it has English"). This is why you were downvoted by me. Remember that this is reddit, and that people upvote and downvote others all the time. I especially get the butt end of downvote armies.

Your response to plarak is a clear indication of why you will get downvoted in the future. EDIT: Holy shit, "hand that feeds"? Get over yourself. You're a contributor, not the next prophet.
