I wonder if they're going to copy RW's method of handling DragonDragon and unblock him because they hate a hashtag enough to repeatedly hand an arsonist a can of gasoline & matches?

@eastgate FWIW I don't see how "anti-semitism and white nationalism" relate to "gender-related controversies" :(
It isn't. Mark is also banned from "editing any page relating to, (a) Gamergate...". 8chan has discussion of Gamergate in the lede and a subsection dedicated to it, has the Gamergate navbox at the bottom, and the Talkpage clearly marks it as being covered by Gamergate discretionary sanctions. I don't know how that gets any clearer.
You know what, I'll admit a mistake on my part -- I looked at the content of the edit (which is mostly unrelated to GG nor mentions it), but failed to notice what page it was on. I thought it was on a page about the election or Trump or Hillary. I hadn't noticed it was on the page about 8chan itself, which Mark should indeed know full well not to touch even with a 10 foot pole. Sincere apologies, Wordsmith. (I've downvoted my initial comment :p)

@eastgate Actually I had read the diff but failed to notice what page it was on. You should know to avoid 8chan article altogether :/
Thank you. I'm not used to dealing with people who can admit they made a mistake, so that's refreshing.
It was doubly shocking for me that both of you guys were reasonable.
Mark had been dancing around his topic ban even with his edits to Margaret Sanger, so I'm not surprised to see him cross the line.

Mark is a real piece of cake on twitter too it seems:

"I no longer support the project to which I have given so much time, but I do occasionally glance at selected pages for two reasons. The first is safety. For example, one of my former Wikipedia opponents was recently detained and held without bail. (He’s out now, and on Twitter he’s talking about the “Jewish overlords” who run Broadway. Great.)
The second reason is to assist people seeking legislative and regulatory solutions to the menace that Wikipedia has become. A solution must be found for Wikipedia’s promotion of harassment – especially of women and Jews – and for its encouragement of extortion.
Still, as I pass through those dusty corridors, it seems churlish to simply ignore typos, vandalism, and other rubbish that can easily be fixed. They don’t want me to edit Gamergate; apparently, that extends to the entirety of the alt-right takeover of the Republican Party and, if they have their way, our country."
Ethan Ralph - the "leader of Gamergate" that was arrested for absolutely nothing to do with Gamergate - has said he was never Mark's "Wikipedia opponent" and dismissed him as "kinda crazy".
"That dude is kinda crazy. I think I wrote 1 article with his name in it? Absolutely 2 at the most. And I've defintely never been a "Wikipedia opponent" of his lol.
No one really knows who he is. So I didn't waste much time there. But people do link me to one of his autistic screeds every once in awhile."
In all fairness, Mark doesn't imply in any way that Ralph's arrest had anything to do with Gamergate or himself.
Who's linked the arrest to Mark or Gamergate?
Mark says:
one of my former Wikipedia opponents was recently detained and held without bail.
Ralph (the detainee) says:
And I've defintely never been a "Wikipedia opponent" of his lol.
I don't see your objection.

I got the impression she specifically denied Ralph's arrest was linked to GG as a counterpoint to such an implication from Mark... maybe I misread, sorry.
You're right that Mark doesn't actually say that, but reading between the lines that's exactly the impression he wants to give his followers. There's no other reason to bring up the unrelated arrest of one of his "opponents" in an article about Wikipedia and Gamergate coverage unless he intended to tie them together, at least implicitly.
8chan? Isn't that one of the many tiny *chan's that aspire to be the next 4chan?
Why the hell is he burning his wikipedia account over smearing a bunch of trolls? Why would anyone pick that fight? What would that accomplish?
8chan is kinda popular, a bit because of GG a bit because it puts together classic chan concepts and reddit ideas (anyone can create, mod and customize a board with little restrictions, admins are there just to prevent illegal stuff and massive fuckups, actually anonymous posting via TOR is possible...) and a bit for reasons that shall not be mentioned
8chan is also owned by 2channel, by far the largest chan in the world.
The original Chan.
When Wordsmith started in the topic area I told him Bernstein and Gama were POV pushers he should sanction. He threatened me with a block for battleground behavior. Still waiting for my apology.
I...don't actually know who you are.
Nobody you would remember on Wikipedia either. But I was right about them.
Well, I reckon you're going to be waiting quite some time for that apology then. lol
Why isn't he banned indefinitely? He's clearly not there to build an encyclopedia, but to wage war on his own personal opinion pages. People have been banned for less.
He doesn't have the wrong politics. He's anti-Trump, anti-Gamergate, pro-feminism, and generally onboard with the regressive left.
He's not untouchable. He'll just have to cross his own personal event horizon, as Rylong did his, before he gets permanently banned. I'm hoping sooner rather than later, as we would see a new era of lulz if Bernstein were to move over to RationalWiki.
Well he does bring us entertainment, after all :-D
Heh heh. That he does.

Brace for massive Twitter salt, naming The Wordsmith as a jackbooted misogynist Nazi harasser thug.
In that order?
