I know the tattoo people will come to his defense but come on, the ball on the mace is misshapen by his facial contours and the spikes just look odd. There's also half a punisher skull on the side of his head. Nothing about this says: well thought out.

Touchè. I don't normally get called out for bad grammar. Tattoos are not inherently trashy, if you have a great piece of custom art that doesn't represent racist or bigoted views, have bad line work or just generally have some terrible backyard artist working on you. You may just end up with a great piece of artwork.

I don't like them and couldn't be paid to get one, but I can recognise when somebody has a nice one. This person is a friend-of-a-friend and I think her stuff is pretty cool; if I was tattoo-minded I'd probably track her down. And, agreed; they're so mainstream now that the claim that they're inherently trashy doesn't fly.
But...I think sometimes r/trashy attracts people who think "Wow, finally, a sub for me and my people!" -- and they will eagerly defend the ugliest basement scratcher stuff. Because it's a tat and, dammit, tats aren't trashy! Without realising it's a "But, who cares if his balls are hanging out? Shorts aren't trashy!" argument...

It's the blob above his ear toward the back of his head, when you zoom in it doesn't really look like half a skull; it's just a continuation of the weird pattern running up the side of his face.
