Why can I detect smells better immediately after smoking tobacco? Does this happen to anyone else?
Smoking tobacco is widely considered to decrease the ability to smell and taste. But I have noticed that I can smell better after smoking tobacco (from a pipe). I go outside my house to smoke, and when I come back inside, I can smell the incense aroma of my room that I am never able to detect, even after leaving and returning without smoking.
Smoking weed does not yield the same result as tobacco, which is strange, since people tend to claim that their senses are heightened when high.
Has anyone else noticed this effect? I've searched and haven't found any other reports of this.
