Is it possible to win tic-tac-toe?

A friend of mine suggested playing this new game - it apparently doesn't even need any components besides a pen and a piece of paper (innovative!!!).

However, after we played a round and no player actually got 3 of their symbols in a row, I was wondering: What happened now? Did no one win the game? Is it actually possible to win this game at all, or does this always happen?

there are some balance problems in the base game but if you get the six big box expansion packs it'll be much better. They're out of print though so you might need to buy them off the secondary market. Tic-Tac-Toe Expanded is the must have one and well worth the $300 price.

or you can just get tic-tac-toe legacy, which has a campaign system that gradually fixes balance issues. we're on week seven of the campaign, and it's been the best forty hours of my life.

I had to spend more than I care to admit to get the promotional crayon, but lol I'm a completionist.

A lot of people don't know this, but Tic-tac-toe is a straight retheme of a game called Naughts and Crosses. The publisher lost the license so they had to rename it, but they didn't fix any of the balance issues. The game has a huge first player advantage, but I've found that giving the second player 3 extra coins at the start of the game evens it out.

We usually play the "Legacy" variation. With some permanent Xs or Os on the board at the start, gameplay becomes much more tense and compelling.

SHIT, you beat me to the obligatory Legacy comment. How will I ever get that sweet obscure fanbase karma????

No. You can't win. It's a metaphor. Have you tried patchwork? I can't recommend it enough.

I'm holding out for CToGTFO's upcoming Kickstarter version which is supposed to fix a lot of those problems. It's called Tits and Demons.
