What would happen to a Space Marine currently serving in the Deathwatch if his original chapter turned to Chaos?

Would he be forced to join the Black Shield? Interrogated by the Inquisition? Sent on a suicide mission?

He'd stay in the Deathwatch and probably black out his pauldron

Severely and with much vigour!

He would definitely get interrogated by the Inquisition, they would want to know how deep the corruption goes. Was it already present when he joined the Deathwatch? Is he Traitor infiltrator? And even if he was totally innocent and regained trust he would still be thourghouly interrogated to learn from him all his Chapter secrets.

After that? He might retain his livery and pose as the Last True <Insert Chapter Name>, this would be especailly possible if the Chapter changed its name and colours like Crimson Sabres turned into Crimson Slaughter. Alternatively, he might become a Black Shield. He would also might get sent or even petition for it, to other Watch Fortress, where people wouldn't treat him as polluted and potentially treacherous.

Assuming he is still loyal to the Emperor he would probably become a Black Shield i believe.

Black shield. Inq probably ask a few questions too. I'd assume for tactical purposes.

The closest thing we have to a reference point would be The Outcast Dead, which featured a number of marines from the traitor legions who it so happens were stationed on Terra during the initial days of the Heresy.

They were immediately imprisoned. Did not pass go.

Mind you that book had a few crazy lore moments so...who can say?

There's tons of instances where traitor legion loyalists were allowed to assume Loyalty and fight their brethren in the same era you speak.

Garro... Loken... Half-Heard... Iron Warrior guy that's elderly.

The ones trapped were questionable at best. Then didn't Sven join up somewhere anyway?

The Blood Ravens. The Blood... Angels? Soul Drinkers?

My biggest assumption is that the loyalist would be bond by honor to go after the traitors.

With the exception of Loken, everyone you mentioned exonerated themselves by rushing to Terra to warn the Imperium (the Eisenstein incident).

As of right now the Blood Ravens are not 100% confirmed, but you are probably right. Not sure your point about the BAs and Soul Drinkers though.

Soul Drinkers

At the end the Soul Drinkers helped defend the fortress monastery of dorn and died almost to the man defending it and dealing a major fuck you blow force of chaos. Sarpedon and a couple others were last seen, gravely injured, going into the warp to presumably fight to their last against the warp, rather than stay in real space. I think Sarpedon might have gotten a statue even.

Right just not sure where they fit into this discussion. They were suspected of being traitors and labeled excommunicatae. And they're still labeled that way.

Well, and Barnabas Dantioch's men ("Iron Warriors guy that's elderly")

There is a book called 'The Outcast Dead' that cover some of those issues during the Horus Heresy.

This sort of happened with the Crusader Host on Terra in the Horus Heresy. Members of the Traitor Legions who were stationed on Terra ended up being imprisoned by Rogal Dorn

This was asked not too long ago. The concensus was Executed, Blackshield, Knight Errant or turn Traitor with his Chapter.

An interesting question. It depends. If his unit is currently active, there would be no direct consequences, as it is quite likely he will be killed. If however he survives, he will still be killed on sight by the Ordo Xenos. Why take the chance that he is the one single exception within the chapter. Better to purge the chapter from existence and be done with it.

There is a special heresy in wasting the Emperor's men, and none are more precious than his Angels of Death. A corrupt servant of the Throne must be destroyed, and lesser servants may be eradicated to prevent the spread of corruption, but an Astartes who has been examined and found to be pure is too valuable an asset to waste needlessly.

Member, the Emperor protects.

Hence the Grey knights not been able to/it being severly frowned upon to depose of adeptus that have fought along aide of the GKs like they do Militarum. They get mind wiped, so I would assume that they would be interrogated by an inquistior at the very least....no kill on sight unless he carving symbols...putting spikes on his armor that sort of silly stuff.
