I have a crush on the girl who works at the tea shop on my campus, but if I hit on her and it goes badly I'll never be able to buy tea from here again.

I mean I could do it but I'm sure I'd feel awkward every time. Besides I barely know the girl I just think she's hella cute and she remembered my name

Well, what do you value more? Tea? Or the possibility of this working out?

When you get down to it like that, probably tea

Well in that case don't hit on her

Wait till you see her out and about somewhere. No one wants to be hit on at work. If she's attractive it probably happens too often already.

Why not? Just be nice and ask her if she would like to hang out sometime. Don't make a big deal about it and it won't be a big deal.

And if she says no, what about it? You can still buy your tea and the awkwardness will vanish over time.

Honestly you're probably right, currently I think I'll just stick with my traditional tactic of debating about what to do for a long enough time for it to not matter anymore. So basically until I graduate lol

Don't hit on retail workers while they're working. It puts them in a super awkward position where they feel like they can't say no because you're the customer and the customer, by definition, has the upper hand in that power dynamic.

I asked out the waitress at my regular bar and she said no and I continue to go there every week for game night and nothings awkward. If anything I think she was flattered and now I get better service.

Don't be afraid the absolute worst case is she says no and hands you your tea.

what do you prefer? The possibility of being happy if you ask her or forever sad because you didnt have the guts to say something. We live in world where nowadays social contact for the first time is seen as something harsh and stupid. It shouldnt be that way. Go for it. This summer i talked to a girl i had seen everyday at the beach. You know what? She didnt want anything but she was really sweet talking. I didnt even care. In the 100 times you will talk to a girl..probably 1 or 2 will follow you back...you just gotta keep trying! At least you tried!

"Hit on her" sounds so final. So life changing. Don't think of it as "hitting on her". All you gotta do is ask her for a coffee sometime. That's it. You want to get to know her as a friend first right? So act as if you would when asking a potential friend out to lunch. It's no big deal. If she says no, then just keep buying tea there because the only people who know about your interaction with her are you and her. Nobody else gives a shit and no girl that's worth it is going to think less of you because you asked her for coffee.

Just assert youre akwardness by maintaining eye contact everytime you get tea
