Apparently musical theater stars can be perfectly suited to be SNL hosts. Makes sense.
Miranda hit it out of the damn park.
I'm sorry they didn't do one of their awful high school "edgy" plays. The cast party thing was good, but he could have brought something special to that piece.
He lacks charisma. /s
I normally hate music-themed monologues but this one, along with Elizabeth Banks from last season, were pretty damn good. I didn't know what to expect as I hardly know anything about him but Lin-Manuel was entertaining throughout.
Was it me or was he nasally and flat while singing on the show. I know Broadway shows have to really throw their voices and maybe he wasn't used to a better sound stage for quality. I've never heard him before, but everyone says he's amazing, but he didn't change pitches or tones at all. Half the articles I read say he's amazing, the others say he's overrated.
I would describe him (as I think many other broadway fans would) as a particularly gifted writer, a talented rapper, a talented actor, a generally charismatic performer, and...not the greatest singer (at least by broadway standards). I mean, he himself has made reference to that much. However, most of his parts in Hamilton are rapped, so unless you're entirely programmed to hearing more traditional-sounding broadway singers and can't get past his occasional singing, you can enjoy his performance.
Just listen to his stuff and decide for yourself.
He himself has said that his strength isn't really singing; though, I didn't notice anything particularly bad about last night's performance.
He's got that Broadway speaking-singing voice down pat
One of my favorite monologues ever.
After he talks with Lorne and starts riffing on the cast members and stuff... damn, dude's talented.
