Survival mode can bee cleared itemless now. Thanks to Beedrill.
This was for fun, as I have done almost everything on the game for now.
For starters, this is in the current version of the game as October 10. Maybe they will change something or not, but anyway (EDIT: On November 15th a special effect of Beedril was fixed, it not longer delays the disruption counter from the opponent, BUT IS STILL POSSIBLE TO CLEAR IT even without such effect.) lets start:
There are some guides to complete this mode, but it bases a lot on "use shufflemove", which isn't necessary at all, neither using coins, but yes a somewhat specific team. Just needs to add Beedrill instead. And this could show is good. I used:
M-Beedrill (Level 9, Skill Lv 2).
Landorus-T (Max Lv, Skill Lv 5).
Reshiram (Max Lv, Skill Lv 2).*
Hoopa Unbound (Max Lv, Skill Lv 3).
*(NOTE: As we got more pokemon after this thread was made, consider using a Risk-taker Machamp or Emboar in his place, or a similar pokemon of the same type).
Mega-Beedrill really shines on stages with disruptions. It clear a 3x3 square and when full candied it megaevolves in just a match of 3 (except when an icon is in ice, that one or ones doesn't count), and it shows is a good mega.
So, as Survival mode has a lot of disruptions with few moves, and it really helps to delay and clear them. Is as simple as that (and maybe using the gamenotes). For example, this was my log (after 2 tries)...
- After stage 17 (M-Mawile) I had 32 moves left.
- After stage 20 (M-Altaria) 34 moves.
- After stage 30 (M-Glalie) 33 moves.
- Stage 36 was... Ampharos!!!... luckily, I had 36 moves left when starting it, but 21 afterwards (this was the only problem on my previous tries, it appeared too soon).
- After stage 40 (M-Ampharos) 28 moves.
- After stage 45 (M-Gengar) 25 moves.
Finally, at stage 50, I had 24 moves left. Won with... 11 moves left itemless.
Can Survival Mode be used for grind exp boosters? Maybe if you have everything maxed, maybe not, it took me like 3 hours and some luck, but is consistent.
TL;DR
Is the bee good? Yes.
Max the bee.
I wasted like 130.000 coins and a Jewel when this mode was first added months ago.
Added notes:
- Yes, my Beedrill is full candied.
- M-Beedrill isn't like M-Rayquaza that works by matching icons mindlessly. Is more like trying to make the icons above and at the sides of where you tap to match with the bottom ones, besides clearing disruptions.
- I would say is about using Risk-taker to do huge damage, and help yourself with Beedrill to clear disruptions when you can't. Basically do chains starting with one or the other.
This includes support pokemon, if you take your time you can use beedrill to clean disruptions and/or make matches of support pokemon to open a gap to risk-taker.
For example, Raichu's stage (the one with the barriers and the entire Pichu line) was a joke thanks to Beedrill and Landorus, itemless. Other stages can be cleared on 1-3 moves if the starting position is good.
More added, about Beedrill's combo game
The Bee can create a decent number of combos. It just need a different approach. Lets say you have this at the bottom:
XXXEEX
XXXXXX
XXEX1X
X is whatever, E is the effective pokemon we want. Tapping M-Bee effect on the "1" will make a match after clearing the 3x2 square. Is just trying to find parts like this. Then:
- This mean that you can make 3x2 or 2x2 squares, besides 3x3, if you tap at the borders.
- These cleared icons ("E") can create another chain of combos if you go further to analyse the layout.
- This is always something random (and in general), but you can predict the first new row from the skyfall to try to match it with the bottom of the columns at the side of the 3x3 square. The new "row" that comes from the skyfall is almost always everything except the icons that were in the previous first row. In the previous example (taking it to the top now) you can be almost sure that from above "EE" can be an AA, BB or whatever, except another EE, so you could create further combos.
- If you tap where icons are falling, you can stop all rows above in mid-air (above the 3x3 square) and start a combo in mid-air with the help of a column at the sides. Just take care, the icons fall quickly and sometimes in reality they are one row bellow even when you see them above.
- In a same way, you can use the activated M-Bee icons to maintain icons above them in a few different shapes. They don't get cleared if you tap in them or are inside the 3x3 square while active, but if you have two groups of beedrill at the same time, only the first one that activates has this effect, until you can tap again for the second one.
